Should I buy the mulch and have Green Grass Lawn Care install it or should I just let Green Grass Lawn Care buy the mulch?

It depends what kind of mulch you want. If you want regular generic double shredded hard wood mulch, topsoil or compost then you should let Green Grass Lawn Care order it. We receive a wholesale discount on these soils and we pass part of that discount on to you.

For most jobs the delivery fee is included in the price.

Prices may be higher for jobs with less then two cubic yards of soil.

Why should I mulch?

In the forest trees drop there leaves every fall. The leaves decompose during the winter. This processes provides heat for the root system of the trees. But now most people rake the leaves in their yards. So, to help protect the roots of the trees in the wintertime, you should mulch during the fall. Mulch also decomposes the same way the leaves do. And decomposed mulch provides natural nourishment for the tree. Another good reason to mulch is because it looks nice.

How much mulch do I need?

Most people mulch 3 inches once per year or 1-2 inches twice per year. If you mulch 3 inches in the springtime you should have enough mulch to last till spring next year. If you mulch 3 inches during the fall time you should have enough mulch to have your yard still looking nice in the springtime. Or you can divide it up and do 1.5 inches during both spring and fall. This would make your yard look nice in the spring and you’d have the fresh mulch in the winter. The only extra cost for mulching this way would be delivery of the mulch. For jobs with fewer than 2 yards of soil there may be an extra charge for the mulch.
